Residents of Central Islip in Suffolk County NY who need pulmonary rehabilitation and a short term rehab facility or sub-acute care can now receive individualized treatment if they are a patient with respiratory illness. Patients may also receive physical, speech, and occupational therapy sessions.


Nov 16th, 2017 Oakdale, NY–Affinity Skilled Living & Rehabilitation Center ( http://chooseaffinity.com ), a leading skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, specializing in sub-acute care, near Central Islip in New York’s Suffolk County, is pleased to announce the success of their Pulmonary/ Respiratory Rehabilitation and Ventilator Unit created to treat high acuity pulmonary patients. Affinity Skilled Living is one of few skilled nursing facilities serving the hospitals on Long Island to provide ventilator care.


Patients participating in the Respiratory Program at Affinity Skilled Living receive an individualized plan of care created by Affinity’s interdisciplinary medical and respiratory team of on-site Respiratory Therapists (RTs) in collaboration with the Director of Pulmonary. The RTs are onsite 24 hours daily. The program is aligned with guidelines from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.


In addition to respiratory care, participants may receive physical, speech, and occupational therapy sessions as prescribed by their attending physician. Patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis, COPD, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, neuromuscular disease, obesity-related respiratory disease, asthma, post-operative thoracic/abdominal surgery and ventilator dependency are included in this program.


The Respiratory Rehabilitation and Ventilator Unit is a team of professionals led by Dr. Sam Davidoff, DO, D-IM, D-CCM, D-RD, specializing in lung disease, critical care, sleep disorders and neurological critical care conditions. A licensed Pulmonologist, Dr. Davidoff has extensive experience in Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab.
