InvestAsian has released their annual index for Asian countries for the year 2018. The Company aims to rank East and Southeast Asian countries in the InvestAsian Index based on their ease of doing business, banking, encouragement of foreign investment, and economic growth.

InvestAsian, a company providing opportunities for those looking to invest in Asia, has released their country index for 2018. Each year, the company publishes a new InvestAsian Index enlisting the potential Asian countries to invest in.

Reid Kirchenbauer, the founder of InvestAsian, said – “Every year, we rank 15 countries from East and Southeast Asia based on how they welcome foreign investment, ease of doing business and banking in those nations, and their economic growth. With this index, we point out the Asian countries that can provide the best ROI to investors.”

This year, the country claiming top rank was Cambodia with a score of 55. Cambodia excelled in almost all aspects required for worthy investment. The country’s long-term visas also helped it to reach the number 1 rank.

In the 2nd position is The Philippines with a score of 51. One of the primary reasons for this country to attain such a rank was its affordable “retirement” visas that individuals aged 35 or above could receive.

As per their index, the 3rd and 4th positions were a tie between China and Malaysia with a score of 41. China came 4th last year, but with a 7% average growth in the past 5 years along with its robust economy and progressive financial sector, it moved up in the rank.

Although Malaysia showcased a rather stagnant growth, it scored considerably well in the other aspects for which it came 4th this year.

Vietnam with a score of 37 came 5th this year in the InvestAsian Index owing to its superb demographics that will aid in its future prospering.

Other countries that Kirchenbauer lists in his index as “Challengers” include Myanmar (34), Laos (33), Indonesia (26), South Korea (20), and Singapore (17).

Kirchenbauer, originally from Los Angeles, has spent half of his life in Asia and believes that this continent will be the main driver of growth in this 21st century.

He believes that the future will be dominated by India and China, although countries like Cambodia, Mongolia, and Myanmar will have a fair share in it. Hence, InvestAsian wants to help investors throughout the globe to grasp all possibilities, these countries offer and turn their investments into profits.

Kirchenbauer explained his methodology behind how the company marks each nation. The average GDP of a country in the last 5 years is multiplied by 1000. The resultant number is then passed through 4 different qualitative measures.

These measures are questions including - Can foreigners own property on a freehold basis? Can foreigners own a majority of companies? Can foreigners open bank accounts? Can foreigners live in the country for a long-term?

A positive answer to the above queries will not affect the resultant number. However, a negative answer will deduct the number by 5% to 20% depending on the question.

“A majority of the information that individuals read about investment scenario in Asia is written by expats who don’t speak the local language and have no knowledge of the market here,” said Kirchenbauer.

InvestAsian provides a unique opportunity to investors as they have analysts and translators with ample experience in local language and cultures all throughout Asia. With the help of their new InvestAsian Index, this Company aims to make Asian investment more sublime to foreigners.
