When meeting with Tommy Swisher, one is immediately inspired by the confidence he has in his music. There is an undeniable sense of respect and contagious energy for the visionary rapper, who started rapping at just 13 years old.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Swisher to learn about where it all started, where he’s currently at in his career, and where he hopes to be in the future.

Originally from East St. Louis, Illinois, Swisher started out with a love for football, which he participated in from age 5 throughout high school. He first started to realize he had a love for music by 5th grade, when he started to instinctively memorize the music from the radio. It was then that his musical abilities began to develop alongside his love for the sport.

When Swisher moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 14, his love for rap emerged. It wasn’t long before his new friends started noticing his rapping and song-writing skills, which he wrote down in his journals. He was instantly connected with artistic students who brought him to the studio for the first time in his life.

During junior year of high school, Swisher moved out of his mom’s house and into the dorms with his friend. While focusing on his education, he also started participating in the night life around town, performing his music whenever he had the chance.

“By the time I graduated high school, I had already been doing my thing in the city of Atlanta so much that they felt like I was born there,” he explained. Needless to say, Swisher quickly began to make a name for himself within the heart of Atlanta.

Over the years, the now-father-of-two has produced a number of popular songs. His biggest hits are Fall for Me, which was produced by Grammy Award winner Jim Jonsin, Heart Away, Demons, produced by WhatNotSo, and VSNARY.

Today, Swisher enjoys entertaining visionary people. He manages his own brand called VSNARY, which caters towards promoting self-love, respect, and worth. He said, “In my life I’ve learned respect triumphs over being liked, and you shouldn’t expect what you give from everyone because true love and care is rare.”

Swisher prides himself in how versatile and free-flowing his career is, working both independently and collaboratively with a number of inspirational artists. The rapper enjoys partnering with all kinds of people, so long as they are, as he says “on the same level mentally.” Having no signed label, Swisher is free to do as he pleases in the music industry. He has produced features with rapper legends Denzel Curry, Quentin Miller, and Kodie Shane, to name a few.

Ultimately, Swisher aspires to bring confidence to those listening to his music. He identifies with artists like Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Nipsey, Larry June, and similar well-known rappers who are full of energy, ambition, and sincere passion for music.
