iGo-AIR Inflates Tires with Exhaust, Releases for Automotive Industry

iGo Technologies reveals the iGo-AIR for the automotive industry. The product utilizes vehicle exhaust as a source for compressed air to inflate flat tires in emergency situations with 15-25lbs of air while the vehicle idles.

iGo-Technologies, (Innovative Go Outdoor Technologies) has announced the successful development of their iGo-AIR product for the automotive industry, originally designed for the off-road ATV/UTV market. The development of the automotive version was accelerated by several requests from users and has resulted in a design that compliments their original patent, which utilizes the exhaust of a combustion engine as a source for compressed air.

Currently there are about 10,000 units of the AIR product (mostly unbranded) in the ATV/UTV industry after having gone through four different production designs. After seeing the success of the product, they were obligated to create a version for the automotive industry. The product’s inventor, Rob Smelcer says “the automotive industry is a little trickier since the size of tailpipes varies so much. The ATV/UTV industry has only a few standard sizes and shapes, which has made it fairly straight forward.” See the iGo-AIR demo here. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esDJrbSC2J0 )

The iGo-AIR is made up of three main components. First is the end which has a tire chuck that fixes to the tire valve. Next is the air hose, which meets at the other end, an exhaust plug, trapping exhaust to be pushed into the tire. The new automotive version is unique from all other designs because it uses part of the exhaust to inflate a plug that contours to the inside diameter of almost any tailpipe within the diameter threshold. “We find this new design to be very forgiving of angled or damaged exhaust pipes” says Corey Rose of iGo-Technologies. The iGo-AIR brings disruptive technology to an industry currently fueled by high consumables. “We see an iGo-AIR in every trunk, it’s like jumper cables for your tire.”

Currently there are 1.2 billion automobiles on the road worldwide, with the number expected to rise above 2 billion by 2020. iGo Technologies is working on an international version as well as a DOD version of the product.

iGo-tech.com will launch the product for sale once they have enough product to meet demand. Currently they are offering wholesale items to off-road retail outlets for the outdoor market including ATVs and UTVs. The new automotive version is set to release early 2016.
