The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City hosted the annual East Coast Gaming Congress (ECGC). The event was organized by the East Coast Gaming Congress as well as The iGaming Institute and produced by Spectrum Gaming Group, Cooper Levenson and SOSH Architects. It is the second-largest conference of the gaming industry with the goal of providing a forum to exchange, examine and coordinate ideas with regards to the future development of online and land-based gaming, as well as other gaming-related issues. With more than 600 participants, including government leaders, suppliers and operators, the ECGC offers a great opportunity to exchange opinions and make decisions in a casual but professional environment.

In a joint statement Michael Pollock, managing director of Spectrum Gaming Group, and Lloyd Levenson, CEO of the Cooper Levenson law firm, announced the emphasis of this year’s conference will be ‘understanding convergence’, focusing on ‘policy issues relevant to both online and land-based gaming.’ The first session on Monday will cover the topic ‘Lessons Learned: Takeaways from the Launch of iGaming in the U.S.’, moderated by Gene Johnson, from Spectrum Gaming Group and featuring a number of speakers with extensive experience in the field, including Tom Balance, president of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Bill Fasy, president of Delaware Park, Mark Lipparelli, former chairman of the Nevada State Gaming Control Board, David Rebuck, director of New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement and Jeff Ifrah, partner and founding member of Ifrah Law.

During this session, Jeff Ifrah and his co-speakers will share their experiences and supply real world answers to questions such as: What are the lessons to be learned from the launch of iGaming in the three markets where internet wagering is now legal in the US? How are they continuing to ramp up operations in a nascent industry? What are the best practices for new jurisdictions to follow? What has worked best and what are the pitfalls to avoid? Ifrah is a frequent panel guest at prestigious conferences and other events in the gaming industry. Most recently he appeared as a speaker at iGNA 2014 hosted by Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and moderated a panel on ‘Liquidity as the Main Driver for Interstate Gaming: View from the Poker Industry’ at WrB USA at The Sheraton University City Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.
