Don’t have an SSL Certificate? Google is going to flag your website this year!
This is important news for every website owner in 2018 and beyond. This problem has to be addressed.
People now turn to the internet for everything. From selling to buying, it is the introduction of an E-world. With this dominating trend, online security has become a necessity.
Undoubtedly, Google loves its users and therefore, is coming up with every possible way to make us feel secure here on the internet. With its recent announcement, in 2017, Google will flag all the unencrypted internet by the end of 2017.
Earlier in 2017, Google announced that they were going to make a push for an encrypted internet.
Now it is 2018 and how many website owners have still ignored this problem?
Having a ssl certificate means that the data that flows between a computer and a website is encrypted. This prevents third-party hackers from accessing and/or altering the data that’s flowing between the browser (on a computer, for instance) and the website (on the host computer). This encryption is necessary for a safe and secure internet.
This encryption is orchestrated by what’s called an SSL certificate. Basically, this is an additional layer of security website owners can put on hosting that will encrypt the data between the host and browsing computers.
The problem, though, is this…Hardly any website owner has the right additions to their hosting in order to for their data flow to be secure. The picture …included shows Google Chrome is warning website owners and potential visitors, that the host for that site doesn’t have the necessary SSL encryption.
It looks as if most website owners don’t understand and are fixing this problem!
This means that many visitors who are using Chrome as a browser, either on their computers or their phones, are getting warned off from websites. People probably naively think the website has been hacked!
Note…Google is pushing this hard, and it does make sense to have an encrypted Internet. It won’t be long before all the other browsers support this protocol.
How about we fix the encryption problem so that companies quit losing visitors, and potentially sales, through the website?
