Those who have fond memories of elegant New Year’s Eve celebrations, with dinner and dancing to the sounds a live Big Band, can re-visit them on December 31, when the 20-piece Swingtime band rings in 2015 with a gala New Year’s Eve event at the Holiday Inn Melbourne-Viera.
The festivities begin at 8 p.m. with piano music at the cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner follows, with a double entrée of petite steak and champagne chicken, accompanied by harp music by Petra. After dinner, Swingtime will play for guests’ dancing pleasure until 1 a.m., accompanied by vocalists Len Fallen and Sally Hart. A traditional balloon drop and champagne toast will usher in the New Year at midnight.
“We’ll be transporting everyone to a time when New Year’s Eve celebrations were elegant and timeless – and also lots of fun,” said Art Martin, conductor of Swingtime. “This was a sell-out last year and we are very pleased to once again present this great evening of dining and dancing. It will be a truly memorable and enjoyable night.”
Tickets are $100 per person and may be ordered online at the Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB) website, www.melbournemunicipalband.org; by picking up a flyer/order form at any MMB or Swingtime event; or at the Holiday Inn Melbourne-Viera. For more information, call the Melbourne Municipal Band office at 321-724-0555.
