January 14, 2020, Helping Hands for Honduras foundation delivered life-saving medical supplies & equipment to Honduras in conjunction with the Ohio Air National Guard and the Honduran Military.
The supplies are being distributed to various hospitals and clinics throughout Honduras by Helping Hands for Honduras. These hospitals are in the rural and urban areas of Honduras where high quality, in date supplies are a scarce resource.
Working in conjunction with Cleveland, Ohio based Honduran Children’s Rescue Fund & Medwish International, 3 full semi trucks were carefully staged and loaded before shipping to Youngstown, Ohio’s Vienna Air Base, Ohio home of Joint Task Force Bravo (JTFB) which includes the Honduran Military!
Helping Hands For Honduras helps Honduran children with Congenital heart disease (CHD), also known as congenital heart defects. The fact is that 1% of the world’s children population are born with a heart condition, which makes it the most common birth defect. Helping Hands of Honduras helps Honduran children with this type of medical care that is not available for children suffering from heart defects.
Helping Hands For Honduras has now coordinated 10 of these shipment over the past several years through USAID and the Denton Program which allows not for profit organizations to ship humanitarian aid via the U.S. Military.
Ron Roll, Executive Director of Helping Hands for Honduras coordinated the Honduran logistics and the team is now distributing the materials and equipment across Honduras. “When we contact the local and rural hospitals to tell them of what’s available, their eyes light up with joy, like a child on Christmas Morning,” says Ron Roll.
