According to Hellen Chen, a respected marriage and relationship expert, most people get the principles of building healthy relationships all wrong. The international speaker, who is also a 3-time Bestselling Author, has worked with top CEOs, doctors and skilled professionals desiring to make their lives better through strong relationships with their loved ones.
Her explanation to singles who are almost giving up on marriage is quite simple, “First thing’s first”. She advises them to avoid wasting their precious time and emotions just dating before they get married.
Hellen Chen has spoken about similar relationship topics during her famous Love Seminar, which took place in Los Angeles on Saturday 16th September 2017, at Hilton Hotel San Gabriel.
Explaining more about the concept of dating after marriage, Hellen gives the illustration of the desire to build a home. She asks what the typical process would be if someone was to get the home of their dreams.
“If you first fantasize on how your house should look, how the decor should be, it is not practical thinking. You don’t even have land! Once you have land, you can build it any way you want – how fancy the design is, how elegant the decor is – that’s all up to you!”
Hellen proposes the alternative concept of investing in marriage by dating during the marriage, not before. This, she believes, makes the marriage an adventure where both partners discover more about each other. This way, the spouses invest in an already established life-long commitment, rather than a prospective one.
When she was asked why dating constantly with the aim of finding the right partner does not work, Chen explained in a recent FOX TV interview, “When people date a lot before they get married, their hearts get broken once too often, and these bad experiences accumulate and are carried into the marriage as baggage.”
Susan Y., a nurse that attended a previous seminar, had this to say: “Don’t waste time dating endlessly. This is the biggest lesson I learned from Hellen.
