Rick began designing the Model 1 guitar for Lindsey Buckingham in 1979. After Lindsey complained of not getting enough out of his Les Paul or his Fender Stratocaster he approached Rick about building him a guitar that had the clarity of a Strat with the warmth of a Les Paul. Rick was present during much of the recording of the Fleetwood Mac Rumors album so he had a real good idea of what Lindsey was looking for. Enter the Model 1 Guitar. So legend goes Rick delivered the Model 1 to Lindsey during a sound check for a Fleetwood Mac show. Lindsey played the guitar for 2 hours and shouted to his guitar tech, “Leave the Strat and the Les Paul here, this is all I need”. To this day, Lindsey still plays the iconic Model 1 in both live and recording scenarios. The Model 1 went on to define the Fleetwood Mac sound.

The Limited Edition Rick Turner Twins:
Due out in June, 2017 The Twins are a pair of Turner Guitars: The Model 1 and the Renaissance RS6. Both are made of Claro Walnut and will only be sold as a pair. Usually when Turner releases a special limited edition guitar, they tend to be a little pricey as the guitars are very well appointed and often have exotic tone woods. Well Rick wanted to surprise everybody with the Twins and basically offer our customers two guitars for the price of one Limited Edition. Price is yet to be determined but we’re quite certain the cost is going to surprise everyone! Only four pairs will be issued and they will go on sale in June. Back to the Future: The 40th Anniversary Model 1
The Iconic Lindsey Buckingham guitar built in 1979 is going to be reissued as an anniversary edition by Rick to be released in early 2018. All details have not yet been released but the guitar will pay homage to the classic Model 1 Prototype built for Lindsey Buckingham. The guitar promises to be an instant classic right away and will deliver all the tones made famous by Mr. Buckingham himself. Price will be released in October along with all the specifications.
