Harambe was a beautiful silverback Gorilla living in Cincinnati Zoo when an unattended three-year-old climbed into his cage in May 2016. He separated the child from the other Gorillas and was seen holding his hand, before zoo keepers made the decision to murder him, apparently for the child’s protection. Outrage followed, and Harambe’s memory is being kept alive in a way impossible before the age of the internet.
