Haendel Design is a Dutch company, based in Amsterdam, specialised in the manufacturing of high end luxury bags, made for people who are car lovers and enjoy taking road trips along winding country lanes, enjoying nature and sightseeing along the way. Haendel Design was launched in September 2016 during the Historic Grand Prix event in Zandvoort, The Netherlands. A race track, where professional and amateur racing drivers from all over the world share a space full of history and motorsports passion. Ever since, the company has established itself as a premium source for hand made luxury leather travel bags.Haendel bags are a 100% Dutch design, with the handles, a patented feature, inspired by sports steering wheels already in use in the 60’s. The radius of the handles emulates that of the cover of a steering wheel and they stick together due to the placement of small magnets on the inside. The bags themselves are made of the most beautiful calf leather, like all major luxury brands. The exterior is decorated with seat cover materials in Pascha and Houndstooth patterns as used in 60s and 70s sports cars. The lining is made of warm orange goat leather suede and each bag is uniquely numbered on the brand label.
The bags are made manually by a Spanish leather factory that has been working for all top brands for generations. Thanks to impeccable detailing and use of the highest quality materials, the bags look like the seats and steering wheels used in 60s and 70's sports cars: rich combinations of luxury leather and cloth, which contrast beautifully. What’s more, each bag is uniquely numbered on the brand label.
According to the spokesperson of the company, “We projected the impression of a sports steering wheel into the design of the handles of the bags, so that it's as though you lift the bag by a section of a steering wheel.” The company’s slogan defines it perfectly: “Haendel bags holds memories, not just things.” This refers to the promise of helping people make countless memories on road trips.
