Granger Plastics Company, manufacturer of the Granger ISS In-ground Tornado Shelter, recently exhibited at The ICC Building and Design Expo on September 10-11 during the International Code Council’s Annual Conference. In addition to exhibiting, Alli Cravens, a representative of the company participated in the Education Pavilion, presenting on “The Importance of ICC 500 Standards to the Shelter Industry and the Consumer”. The Education Pavilion is a free feature for attendees and included a range of subjects pertaining to safety and building.The Building Safety & Design Expo brings professionals from the built environment including local tradesmen, architects, engineers, along with plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, building and fire safety professionals from around the world together to make it easier to exchange critical information on the latest technologies for building a safer, more resilient world. Granger Plastics Company exhibited the Granger ISS In-ground Safety Shelter which exceeds the ICC 500 standards for safety and reliability.
The Granger ISS was the only tornado shelter exhibited at the ICC Building and Safety Design Expo. Many builders and building inspectors had the opportunity to learn more about this life saving device by walking through the exhibit. Tornado shelters are a survival product for protection from storms that have been known to destroy anything in their path including all types of buildings. There is a higher risk of damage being in a pre-fabricated building, but any building without an underground shelter carries risk in the right storm. The Granger ISS was designed to be installed practically anywhere including outside of existing homes, in new construction or even added to existing structures.
