Gonyea Homes & Remodeling will feature a multi-generational home remodel with an addition that preserves the personality of the architect-designed 1970s property during the Remodelers Showcase.

Gonyea Homes & Remodeling will feature a North Oaks whole-home renovation and addition project March 23 through 25 during the 2018 Spring Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase. This artfully crafted multi-generational legacy property will be open for the public to tour Friday through Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.

The home showcases Gonyea’s outstanding design and holistic approach to transformative home remodeling.

“We would like to personally invite anyone intrigued by thoughtful design, or those of you considering a project of your own,” says Joseph Robbins, Gonyea’s manager of design remodeling. “This is an opportunity to experience something a bit more unique than average, and it is certainly worth it.”

According to Robbins, there are two distinguishing elements of the project that make it stand out from the rest. First, the remodeled home was designed with the goal of merging households.

“Multi-generational homes are more prominent than ever,” says Robbins, “but from a design standpoint, they pose a completely different set of challenges than a standard single-family home.”

The remodeling team had to consider how to merge two households comfortably under one roof, while also making sure the house was attractive to the entire market if the family decided to sell their home.

The second element that makes this project stand out is the thoughtful blending of a new addition to the existing home, which preserves the personality of the original architect-designed 1970s property. “The end-result is a homogenous, flowing plan that honors the home’s existing character,” said Robbins.

During the showcase, Gonyea Remodeling experts will be on site to answer questions about the project and explain their remodeling process. Visitors will also have the chance to tour and appreciate the many unique characteristics of the home.

These unique details include:

– An interesting double staircase with a custom walnut accent wall

– A distinct bridge detail incorporated above the open dining room

– A contemporary glass deck railing that offers tremendous views of the lake
