Georgia Tech Python Programming Professional Computing Certificate Launched

An online professional certificate in Introduction to Computing in Python is available through edX and Georgia Tech. The course teaches the fundamentals of computing in Python.

edX, an educational company that provides online training courses and programs, has launched its Professional Certificate in Introduction to Computing in Python.

The recently launched course is offered by Georgia Tech and is for students who wish to learn the fundamentals of computer science. It includes four skill-building modules that can be completed at the student’s own pace over the course of five months. The course is provided by Georgia Institute Of Technology instructor David Joyner, who is a Senior Research Associate at the College of Computing.


Upon completion, students will achieve a professional certificate and have a positive job outlook. The company explains that the Python programming language is the most popular language for data scientists across the world, and job opportunities include Software Developer, Data Analyst, Software Engineer, and more.


Four modules are included as part of the launch. They are Fundamentals and Procedural Programming, Control Structures, Data Structures, and Objects and Algorithms. Each module requires nine to ten hours a week of study and takes around five weeks to complete.


During the course, students will learn the fundamentals of computing in Python, including how to write code and execute it, the design cycle of computer programming, how to use core data structure to create useful programs, how to revise coding syntax, error handling, file manipulation, and more.
