Gay & Lesbian International Sport Association announces board members for 2014-2015 and strategic vision for the sport, cultural, and human rights organization.

Toronto, Canada – July 29th, 2014 /PressCable/ — Following its annual Delegate Congress

held in late June, the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association (GLISA) is

pleased to announce the composition of its new Board of Directors for 2014-2015.Female co-president: Marie Houzeau of Montreal. She joined the Board in 2013

and is also Director of GRIS, Québec's largest organization that discusses homosexuality

and bisexuality in schoolsMale co-president: Daniel Vaudrin of Montreal. He has been involved in

GLISA since its inception in 2004. He as an international online marketing

specialist.Secretary: Barry Taylor of Sydney joined in 2013. He is active in

LGBTI Health and is a renowned expert in suicide prevention. He is also

President of GLISA Asia Pacific.Treasurer: Victor Elkins of Vancouver joined the board in 2014. He

is also a director of GLISA North America and is President of the Hospital

Employees' Union in British Columbia.Carlos Idibouo of Toronto, originally from the Ivory

Coast, is representative for Africa and the African diaspora. He has been a

human rights activist for many years. He was elected to the Board in 2013.Dulcimar Antonio Grando from Brazil represents Central and South America

since 2013. He is actively involved in inclusion and diversity in sport.Gord Dunbar of Toronto joined in 2012 and is

representative for GLISA North America and is actively involved in the planning

and leadership of Pride House Toronto to be held during the Pan American Games

in 2015.Greg Larocque of Windsor, Ontario joined the Board in 2013 and represents International Federations.

He is a human resources consultant and contractor.Gregory Phillips of Melbourne is a medical anthropologist

and is nearing completion of his PhD in psychology on Aboriginal health,

cultural safety and medical education. He is appointed by GLISA Asia Pacific as

its representative.Ingi Thor Busk of Iceland is a former Olympic swimmer

and the CEO of Nordic Intercultural Creative Events. He joined the Board in

2014 and represents Europe.Ivan Cano joined the Board in 2013 representing the

Host City organization World OutGames Miami 2017. Martin K.I. Christensen of Copenhagen represents Europe, has been

on the Board since 2012 and is in charge of human rights. He has previously

been co-chair of ILGA Europe.Paul Brummitt of Copenhagen joined in 2011 and was

re-elected in 2014. He is formerly Chairman of Denmark's largest LGBT member

organization; the sports club Pan Idr?t, and has extensive international

business experience.Tamara Adrian Hernandez represents Central and South America. She

is a lawyer and transgender activist from Venezuela and chairperson of IDAHOT,

the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.Focus“Amongst other issues, last year's board

was hard at work drafting new by-laws that reflect the new realities of the

LGBT landscape and the board created a strategic plan that will benefit our

community,” said Marie Houzeau, female co-president of GLISA. The new board

will focus its efforts on implementing GLISA's new strategic plan presented to

members at the Delegate Congress. This includes specifically:- strengthening the involvement of members at all levels

of the organization- enhancing legacy transfer and optimizing working

methods to ensure the continuous improvement of the organization;- reaching out to organizations which wish to enter into

strategic partnerships with us in order to strengthen GLISA's Sport, Culture

and Human Rights pillars;- increasing our impact by developing our network of

financial partners;- continuing to develop our network of members by

offering services of benefit to them.“After ten years of existence, eight

successful events and such great talent on the new board, GLISA is well

positioned to make an even greater contribution to the Sport, Culture and Human

Rights aspects of the LGBT community. We

now have an even greater set of tools to support host committees on their

journey to deliver memorable games for all.” says Daniel Vaudrin, male

co-president. About GLISAGLISA is the governing body of the World OutGames

series of quadrennial events held for the first time in Montreal, Canada in

2006, then in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2009 and most recently in Antwerp, Belgium

in 2013. Regional OutGames events have also been

held by the respective Continental Associations in North America (Calgary 2008,

Vancouver 2011) and in Asia Pacific (Melbourne 2008, Wellington 2011 and Darwin

2014). The next World OutGames will be held in

Miami, Florida in 2017 and the next North America OutGames in Saint Louis in

2016. The bidding and selection process for the next Asia Pacific OutGames in
