The use of aluminium in the production of this furniture allows it to be moved, due to the lightweight nature of the metal. It differs from the plastic shell rattan variety because it is hand woven, which creates a natural give in the seats. There have been suggestions that it might be better for the environment that these sets last longer, but that research is still ongoing. Some call this type of product resin, or rattan-effect furniture, but the official name for it is synthetic rattan furniture.
