15th anniversary of Strandkorb & Meer
On March 1, 2019, the German retail company Strandkorb & amp; Meer proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Since 2003 owner Corina Gold is responsible for individual, in-depth going consultations for private consumers and companies looking for a very unique „German“ piece of furniture, the „strandkorb“ (a roofed wicker beach chair).
The strandkorb goes back to the 19th century. The history of the beach chair began with rheumatic pain of an elderly lady from Rostock unfortunately when she was spending her vacation at the beach of Warnemünde, located at the Baltic Sea. The symptoms of the illness triggered an historic invention made by a local basket maker: in 1887 Wilhelm Bartelmann constructed a robust chair, which protected its female user against the stormy winds coming up at the seaside.
Corina Gold´s company „Strandkorb & Meer“ mission has been from day one to sell high quality roofed wicker beach chairs manufactured only by proven German productioners. Brands like Sonnenpartner, Strandkorbprofi and deVries are synonymous for excellent manufacturing and their owners are still loyal partners of the Munich dealer. „Made in Germany“ is the quality level buyers can expect.
All roofed wicker beach chairs are being manufactured individually and literally made by hand for their lucky owners. Customers can choose from several basic shapes (Baltic Sea versus North Sea form), diverse variants with regard to wood and braid and countless fabric samples. This incredible variety also includes an option to use the wicker beach chair as a bed-like piece of furniture.
In addition, Strandkorb & Meer meanwhile is offering perfect covers for beach chairs, garden furniture, lounges, table groups or barbecues. Unusual dimensions of objects don´t mean an issue as individual requests for customization are welcome. „We do what we can to fulfill the expectations of our customers“, Corina Gold points out. Most of the specific demands can be fulfilled as the material will be cut to size in the workshops of producer Heinemeyer GmbH and eventually be delivered to the customer´s home, with free shipping within Germany.
Requests from neighboring European countries „are welcome“, Corina Gold emphasizes. Phone conversation can also be hold in English. Items have indeed been sent to the UK, France, Spain and even to Australia and the US. Even though most customers still come from different parts of Germany.
In the course of the past 15 years the company has moved twice. In 2011 the company left the original facilities in the Wasserburger Landstraße and Strandkorb & Meer found a new home in the Kathreinweg. Both locations were situated within the boundaries of Munich. Since 2018 you will find the bright showroom in the Grasbrunner Straße in Putzbrunn near Munich, which lies next to a highway exit and is also connected to other motorways.
The current location is easy to find and moreover offers free parking. Sometimes people are travelling hundreds of kilometres to get information and to test different unique variations of the strandkorb.
Strandkorb & Meer is already looking forward to welcoming its 10,000th customer in the near future.
