Raising funds for nonprofits during COVID-19 is challenging. Sir Bruno Serato is offering myriad ways to support Caterina's Club to feed hungry children, house families in need & help at-risk youth. Attend socially distanced event, take dinner to-go or donate fancy meal to underprivileged families.

Faced with a dilemma posed by COVID-19, Sir Bruno Serato, founder of the nonprofit named after his mother, Caterina’s Club, has announced details for this year’s most important fundraiser. Guests will have four options when they purchase a table to “A Night Under The Stars” on Sunday, November 1: they can attend the gala in-person at Anaheim White House where guests will be seated according to the CDC’s social distancing recommendations; redeem the ticket for a multi-course dinner to be used anytime through 2021; opt for the dinners “to-go”; or donate the dinners to families who are beneficiaries of Caterina’s Club Welcome Home program.

Table sponsorships of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, $25,000 and $50,000 and over help subsidize Caterina’s Club’s Feeding the Kids and Welcome Home programs. The four-course gourmet dinner served with wines starts with Bresaola (thin-sliced Italian cured beef drizzled with olive oil and lemon); penne pasta in a chive pesto sauce; sliced beef tenderloin with truffle sauce served alongside white fish; and Chef Eddie Meza’s famous mango opera cake.

“This year has been exceptionally challenging for Caterina’s Club, as it has been for most everyone,” says Serato. “With the Boys & Girls Clubs closed during the pandemic, we have been forced to modify how we operate and the demand for food has grown exponentially. To put it in perspective, in just 18 weeks, we served 1 million meals. Typically it takes us one year to feed that many.

“While at food distribution points around Southern California, I met with countless families — many who needed assistance for the first time,” he recalls. “They shared their stories and struggles with me and it was heartbreaking. I realize how challenging these times are for everyone, but I hope people will support ‘A Night Under The Stars’ so we can continue fulfilling our mission.”

Caterina’s Club serves 5,000 pasta dinners each night in 89 locations in Orange and LA counties with more 5 million meals served. Serato’s influence has extended far beyond the local area to include Chicago, New York, Texas, Mexico and Italy. His nonprofit also helps families escape living in drug filled, crime-ridden motels and into safer, cleaner and more permanent housing through Welcome Home and his Hospitality Program seeks to divert at-risk high school students by introducing them to opportunities in the food, hospitality and service industries.

For his humanitarian work, Serato has earned international publicity including profiles in People Magazine, CBS, NBC, CNN as well as newspapers and magazines the world over. Among his many honors: CNN Hero, knighted by the Italian government, knighted by the House of Savoy, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, papal blessing from Pope Francis, humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, and numerous proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition — all of which he accepts to generate public awareness of the needs of our most vulnerable population – our children.
