Europe-based FVTURA has announced the launch of its freelancer education platform Next Billion Jobs. This new job portal is intended to provide workers and employers with a more effective way to exchange services while also offering skills-based learning to the workforce.

The newly launched Next Billion Jobs is aimed at addressing inequality in the marketplace, contending that the number of transaction costs in any competing freelance platform or job portal service disincentivizes the exchange of those freelancers’ goods and services. Next Billion Jobs argues they will provide a better space for business by eliminating transaction costs completely.

The recently released freelance portal will instead run on distributed ownership, meaning each service provider will own a piece of the company by paying a one-time fee. This replaces the need to pay a transaction cost on each order. It will also allow startup and project founders to get the services they need to launch with little to no initial capital.

Next Billion Jobs, the recently launched freelancer job platform, includes an educational and skills-based component in its offering. This is intended in part to be a solution for emerging and developing countries to train their work forces in a rapid and effective way.

On the newly launched platform’s educational wing are a series of digital courses to increase workers’ competitiveness in the market with affordable and accessible opportunities. Course offerings include product management for impact startups, UX design for agile startups, and sustainable food security and crop production.

As part of Next Billion Jobs positioning as a circular economy, members can also launch and lead courses of their own. This fits in with their mission to transfer ownership to users and focus on fairness in the gig economy.

A spokesperson for Next Billion Jobs explained the main problem they hope to address with their job portal. “We see that there is unfairness in the way that current jobs, gigs, freelancer platforms are charging their users, even if not intentionally, they are applying fees and transaction costs, in a way that systematically undermine and disincentive a long-term exchange of services.”
