FORMER WHITE HOUSE SOCIAL SECRETARY TO DELIVER SPECIAL KEYNOTE IN JACKSON

DEESHA DYER, former White House Social Secretary & Special Assistant to President Obama, will deliver a special keynote as part of the Greater Jackson Arts Council's Creative Empowerment Series.


Jackson, MS – The Greater Jackson Arts Council, Visit Jackson and the Tougaloo College Department of English & Modern Languages will present DEESHA DYER, former White House Social Secretary and Special Assistant to President Obama for a special keynote address at Tougaloo’s historic Woodworth Chapel on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 AM. Dyer is a Philadelphia native who parlayed a White House internship into a seven-year tenure with the Obama administration. Her unmatched work ethic was ideal for a challenging position overseeing a team that coordinated the visit of Pope Francis, State Dinners with dignitaries from China, Canada, and Italy, and legendary performances by artists such as Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen and the cast of Broadway’s Hamilton. An event she co-produced, BET’s Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration, won the 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News/Information Special. She has been featured in national media outlets including TIME, THE NEW YORK TIMES, FORBES and VOGUE.


Greater Jackson Arts Council (GJAC) is a private nonprofit with a mission to value diversity by increasing cultural access and opportunities through grant offerings, special events, venue management and arts marketing.


GJAC’s Creative Empowerment Series is diverse and impactful programming aimed at enlightening and inspiring the community through visiting speaker events emphasizing artistic expression, entrepreneurship and personal agency.
