A former university janitor, who works up to 12 hours a day to earn his living and support his studies, has gained recognition from many JC Physics tuition students all over Singapore. This is because of the former janitor’s present position.
Mr. Tony Kang is now a 32-year-old physics tuition tutor in a Singapore Science Tuition Centre. He finished his studies while he was working as a janitor in the same university where he studied. To support a part of his university expenses, he applied for scholarship granted by the National Scholarship Commission, which partly paid for his expenses.
Asked whether he struggled with his studies that time, Professor Kang says, “Of course I did. As a matter of fact, my professors were always encouraging me to continue as I was losing my will to study further. We all know that physics is such a hard subject and I always work full time and attend classes 2-3 hours a day, leaving me with just a few hours to rest and study at home.”
His struggles paid off and after 8 years of hard work and study, he graduated with highest honors. Professor Kang is now a physics tuition Singapore tutor who earns more than $250 a month per student. He has an average of 50-70 students in a school year. Since the professor knows how hard it is to want to study without funds, he is now offering a full scholarship grant funded by his tutorial centre.
