Former Hermosa Beach Mayor Patrick “Kit” Bobko today announced the release of his first book “Nine Secrets For Getting Elected; The official Manual For Candidates From City Hall To The Statehouse and Beyond.” The book combines true stories from Mayor Bobko’s time on the City Council with lessons or “secrets” on what it takes to run for office.

“I think it’s important to share my experience, especially in the current political climate. I am constantly being asked, ‘I want to get involved, what do I need to do?’ This book will help guide people who have decided they’re ready to run and give them the truth about what it takes to serve,” said Bobko.

“Nine Secrets For Getting Elected; The official Manual For Candidates From City Hall To The Statehouse and Beyond” is available on Amazon Kindle and a purchase can be made for an e-book, paperback or hardcover.

Kit was first elected to the City Council in June 2006 and re-elected in 2009 to a four-year term. He served two terms as Mayor. Kit was a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in 2011.

While on the Hermosa Beach City Council, Kit served as the Chairman of the Upper Pier Avenue Committee that re-imagined and renovated Pier Avenue – the City’s main thoroughfare. He and former Mayor and Councilman Michael DiVirgilio lead the tough negotiations with Macpherson Oil to reach a settlement in the potentially devastating $700+ million dollar damages claim Macpherson held over Hermosa Beach and its citizens that saved the city from possible dis-incorporation or bankruptcy. Kit kept his promise to make the city council meetings more environmentally friendly and accessible to the public by becoming a paper-free organization and shifting to electronic records.

Kit Bobko is a graduate of the Air Force Academy and served in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Captain. Kit received a Masters of Arts in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University School of Law. He is a partner at a law firm in Los Angeles.
