Rodney Napier and Napier Ohio Development, which owns the property at 8000 Freedom Ave. NW, has been updating office space on the north side of the building and expects to be leasing some of the room once work is finished. It’s a $2 million investment in the 294,710-square-foot building.

The building is occupied now by Arthur Middleton Capital Holdings, a Napier family company, and Stolle Machinery, which designs and builds machinery for can makers in a 90,700-square-foot space. It’s possible, once work is finished this spring, that 50,000 square feet of office space will be available, said Ryan Napier.

Design work started in 2016 after Stolle agreed to move into the building. The company outgrew its facilities in Canton. According to Ryan Napier, When Stolle started working on its space, the Napiers decided it would be a good time to modernize the north side of the building.

Napier Development hired James Douglas Evans Architect in Tallmadge. The same firm had done drawings for the redevelopment of The Venue at Belden, a shopping plaza the Napiers co-own with DeVille Developments. Evans hired Scheetz Building Corp. as general contractor for the project. Since the project started, Evans has joined with another architect to former Portal Associates.

“It was a nice facelift on the building,” Evans said of work at the former Camelot building. “We’re trying to give it a nice, fresh look.”
