The repair kits include the same materials and tools used by professionals and works better than an epoxy injection, reports www.flexomeric.com

With rainfall increasing annually in many parts of the United States and Canada, more homeowners are having to deal with the effects of flooding. One of several common consequences of standing water is damage to concrete driveways, basement floors, and foundations. To help homeowners save money on expensive professional repairs, Flexomeric has launched a new line of DIY concrete foundation repair kits.

According to company spokesperson Rima, the kits allow homeowners to use the same injection method that waterproofing professionals use when they repair a crack. The kits differ according to the size of the crack that needs repair. A foundation crack repair kit for a 1/16" to 1/2" wide crack, for example, contains crack injection resin cartridges, crack adhesive, injection nozzles, rubber tubing, injection ports and caps, mixing sticks, gloves, a plastic trowel, a caulking gun, a wire brush, safety glass, and instructions. The user doesn't need to supply any additional materials or tools.

Said Rima, "It's important to measure the smallest width of the crack first before buying a kit to make sure the injection material will be able to get inside the crack. A simple way to measure is to use a quarter, which is 1/16 of an inch wide. If a quarter fits in the crack, you can buy the FLEXKIT-100 concrete crack repair kit. If the quarter doesn't fit, then you need the FLEXKIT-200 kit for hairline cracks."

Rima emphasized the importance of treating cracks early. "Even the smallest hairline cracks are going to grow as soon as more water gets inside them. As temperatures cool down, moisture can freeze, and that widens cracks dramatically. That's why we offer repair kits designed to penetrate the smallest cracks, and we encourage our customers to repair those cracks just as soon as they see them."

Rima went on to say that while the DIY kits use the same injection method that professionals do, there is a small difference between the DIY and professional kits. "The difference is in the type of resin," she explained. "The DIY kits provide a single-component resin that allows for more time between injections. The professional kits contain dual-component resins that require a more experienced hand, since they have an almost immediate reaction time."

In addition to the kits, Flexomeric also sells individual components, like injection ports, adhesives, and other supplies. The company also sells waterproofing systems, including carbon fiber kits, dehumidifiers, and sump pumps and basins.
