Farm to Hanger has Launched its Own Clothing Line for Women

The fledgling clothing brand has introduced a range of women’s shirts that it claims are “100 % Australian Made” and “Ethically Produced”. The founder of Farm to Hanger has elaborated on her vision for the start-up.

Founded in 2017, Farm to Hanger is a Sydney-based start-up that produces and sells clothing made from locally sourced fabric. It is the brainchild of Anna Louise-Howard who drew inspiration from the “Slow Fashion” movement, which emphasizes clothing that is designed for quality and longevity. In accordance with this approach, the Clothing Brand has developed a business model that is sustainable from the “ground up”, employing recycled materials, minimal packaging and limiting the use of paper in its offices.

Farm to Hanger marked its entry into the industry by introducing a range of women’s’ shirts priced at $79 each. Currently, three different types of shirts are available in three different colors (Black, White and Neutral). But, according to the founder of the enterprise, Anna Louise-Howard, what sets her products apart from those of competing retailers is how they are made.

Unlike other brands which aim to maximize profits by turning a blind eye to unethical practices, Farm to Hanger keeps its customers fully informed about their products by maintaining a 100% transparent supply chain. Furthermore, the garments sold by the Sustainable Fashion Brand are produced in Sydney with cotton sourced from farms in Queensland, which ensures that local communities benefit the most from their activities.

So far, the retailer’s products have been received well by its target demographic of patriotic, environmentally conscious Australians. But this is only the beginning. Apparently, the start-up plans to replicate the success of this launch by introducing a similar collection of shirts for men and tap into this lucrative market.

In a private conversation with the press, the founder of Farm to Hanger, revealed her long term goals for the Sustainable Clothing brand as well as her motivation for starting it:

“Our long term goal is to have our own exclusive fabrics grown, milled, spun, dyed, knitted and woven right here in Australia. This is an ambitious goal as most of the industry moved offshore during the 1980s and continues to struggle with China and India having industry share as well as the neighboring countries of Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and Indonesia. Currently, there is only one wool mill operating in Australia so we want to revive a once vibrant industry in a completely new sustainable way using minimalistic manufacturing facilities powered by renewable sources of energy.”
