Family owned Art’s Automotive in Longview, WA offers money saving tips to car owners. Car owners can save money on auto, heavy duty truck, and off-road equipment service and repair by following these simple automotive tips.

Since 1965 Art’s Automotive in Longview, Washington has been providing expert auto repair services, including preventative maintenance, brake repair and service, transmission service, and oil and lube services to car owners throughout Longview, Kelso, Castle Rock, Rainier, St. Helens, Clatskanie, Vader, and surrounding areas.

However, according to Steve Hixson, owner of Art’s Automotive, the fact that all technicians on his team are highly trained experts, is only one reason the business has endured for more than five decades. The other reason the business has succeeded for so long, is because of their dedication to providing a premium customer service experience.

Hixson took the reins of Art’s Automotive after growing up in the business, thanks to his grandfather Art. “I first started coming into the shop on Saturdays when I was about 12 years old. I’ve done it all—from sweeping the floors to rebuilding starters and alternators,” he said. As he worked his way up through the family owned auto service and repair company in Longview, Hixson focused on building a customer-service based business. Part of placing his clients’ needs first, includes trying to find ways to save them money. As such, Hixson urges car owners to follow the following tips for reducing automobile related costs.

*Prioritize Regular Tune-Ups

“A misfiring sparkplug can reduce your car or truck’s efficiency by up to 30%. Make sure these are checked during an auto tune-up or else you’re probably wasting money on gas,” Hixson says.

*Keep Tires Properly Inflated

“Underinflated tires can be costing you a small fortune in gas,” said Hixson. “Not only will this decrease your miles per gallon, but you’ll end up reducing the life of your tires, too. The small act of keeping them properly inflated can be a big money saver, over time.

*Don’t Waste Money on Premium Gas

Unless your vehicle specifically requires premium gas, you’re better off just sticking with regular gasoline. “Premium gas won’t boost your gas mileage or performance,” Hixson explained. “Using regular gasoline instead of premium can save you hundreds of dollars each year.”

*Keep Your Gas Cap Securely Closed

Gasoline will evaporate if given the chance, so it’s important to make certain gas caps are securely tightened at all times to avoid wasting money.

*Replace Air Filters Regularly

Clogged engine air filters can reduce engine efficiency by 10%. Over time, this loss of fuel efficiency can add up to wasted gas money. Replacing air filters according to manufacturers recommended intervals will help your car’s engine to operate at its most efficient, according to Hixson.
