Capital of Marwar, known as the land of death, Jodhpur is like an oasis, a fascinating jumble of laneways and bustling markets with blue-hued buildings, all nestled under the majestic presence of the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur has some fabulous shopping, food and a history that will amaze. The Pink City, Jaipur is the capital and largest city in the state of Rajasthan. Gaining fame through the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movies, where much of the films were shot, Jaipur offers many sights, markets and experiences, including one of the best Bollywood cinemas in India where guests get to experience the excitement of catching a new release.
No trip to India is complete without laying eyes on one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Taj Mahal. Little known however are the other wondrous Moghul heritage buildings in Agra.
After all that big city hustle and bustle, the small forgotten town of Orchha offers a delightful respite. Situated on the beautiful Betwa River, the ruins of grand palaces and temples overlook the small peaceful town. Visitors cannot help but be moved by a visit to Varanasi – one of the oldest living cities on the planet. The holiest of holies for Hindus, Varanasi is – to quote Mark Twain – ‘Older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together’
Finally, the journey completes in fantastic and fascinating Delhi. A busy and chaotic city, Delhi encompasses the history and tradition of eight cities built over millennia as well as embracing the modern world. From centuries old markets in Old Delhi, to upmarket pubs, cafes and boutiques, Delhi is a wondrous contradiction that will amaze and stimulate all senses.
