Environmental Credit Score Foundation (ECSF) today announced its founder and president, Maher Abdelsamie, PhD, has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 10,325,270 titled “Methods and systems for environmental credit scoring". A major step forward in the international movement’s launch. The ECSF is working to establish a revolutionary new way to fight climate change with an environmental credit scoring system and methods designed to encourage individuals, businesses and other entities to work together to promote hands-on environmental practices.— The
The patent pertains to the environmental credit scoring system that assigns a score to participating companies, organizations or individual’s “environmental activities.” The scoring system was designed to benefit companies, organizations and individuals making a positive environmental impact. The Environmental Credit Scoring System will allow consumers access to information on environmentally friendly products, services, companies and organizations; improving corporate and personal practices and promoting green consumer purchasing decisions. Pursuant to the issue notification issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the projected patent issue date is June 18, 2019.
An Environmental Credit Score represents the environmental footprint of an individual, business, or other entity. This score can be used by universities in making admission, scholarship and award decisions; similar to community service requirements. It could also become a factor in hiring decisions, landlord-tenant decisions, and other decision-making areas in the future. Implementation of the scoring system will significantly increase consumer demand for environmentally friendly products and services and help green business owners market their companies. Establishing an international environmental credit scoring system will create for the first time the opportunity for individuals, businesses and other entities to work together to protect the environment, while also serving their self-interests.
The USPTO previously issued a notice of allowance for the founder’s patent application and approved a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) petition after a fully favorable international search and written opinion ISR/WO. A successful PPH petition speeds up the USPTO examination process.
“The issuance of this patent represents a significant milestone towards the launch of an international environmental credit scoring movement,” said Maher Abdelsamie, founder and president, Environmental Credit Score Foundation (ECSF). “The "Notification of Issuance" has strengthened our resolve to establish an environmental credit scoring system that allows businesses, organizations, and individuals to take an active role in minimizing their environmental impact to fight climate change. This is an international issue that needs global participation and I’m also filing patent applications with the European, Chinese, Russian, and other patent offices.”
