Elevated levels of lead have been discovered in a number of homes in Pequannock, N.J., according to the Bergen Record, resulting in city officials distributing a notice informing residents how to reduce their exposure.Water in nine of the 60 homes tested registered higher than the EPA’s standard of 15 parts per billion. Levels were found to be as high as 28 parts per billion, nearly twice that standard.

In most cases, water leaves treatment plants lead-free, but lead gets in the water on its way to homes and businesses. We need to protect ourselves and our families from lead in our tap water.”
