Longmont, CO – Elementary school refers to the first 6 years of formal education. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, there were about 89,000 elementary schools operating in the United States between 2015 and 2016. In 2016, school enrollment in public and private elementary schools was generally higher compared to other educational institutions.
