Longmont, Colorado – Education is the best legacy that parents can give to their kids. It is the key to the success of an individual. Unfortunately, some kids are not able to gain access to education and subsequently, life can be much harder for these Americans if they are unable to read.

It is for this reason that Twin Peaks Charter Academy was founded. Based on the concept of the trivium, it is one of the elementary schools in Longmont that delivers classic education. With the end goal of developing a knowledgeable, thinking, and articulated student with a well-formed mind, TPCA implements the three stages of the trivium which are grammar, logic, and rhetoric.

The three stages of TPCA education

The grammar stage is based on acquiring facts and knowledge. Logic is based on organizing facts into statements and arguments. Rhetoric is founded on communicating well or persuading others. Well-formed mind centers around creating great character through studying great books and primary documents.

The school’s curriculum, Core Knowledge, is based on making its students culturally literate. It exposes students to increasingly complex content and depth as they progress from kindergarten to eighth grade. It aims to establish a strong foundation for future learning while opening doors to effective communication. Knowledge-based schooling is geared towards the promotion of educational excellence and equity and grounding students in common knowledge.

The 6 pillars of character

Character education is one of the thrusts of Twin Peaks in developing outstanding students. Whether at home, school or in play, it aims to instill six basic values which are known as the 6 pillars of character.

Trustworthiness – being honest, reliable, having the courage to do the right thing, building a good reputation
