Dynamic Orthopedics of South Florida is excited to announce a brand-new kid’s wheelchair basketball team. Dynamic Orthopedics, located in Davie FL, is one of the leading treatment centers for adults and children who have had life altering accidents or congenital diagnoses resulting in the necessity of prosthetics & orthotics.

Dynamic Orthopedics is especially focused on doing everything possible to help normalize children’s lives who are dealing with severe disabilities. For many young kids playing sports is a foundation to childhood; sports help kids socialize, nurture team building skills and increases confidence. Recently Nova Southeastern University held an adult wheelchair basketball tournament that served as a tremendous source of inspiration for Dynamic Orthopedics.

After watching and enjoying the wheelchair basketball tournament, Dynamic Orthopedics decided to move forward with starting a children’s wheelchair basketball team. They will be partnering with Memorial Adaptive Sports for the creation of this new team. Practices are currently planned to be bi-weekly and should be starting in January on Sundays; the practice location, as of the moment, is still undecided.

Melisa Chang, owner of Dynamic Orthopedics said this “The parents, kids and therapists are beyond excited for this basketball team! Being able to participate in competitive sports is going to bring so much joy to the children we help here. For many of the children we work with their disabilities prohibit them from playing non-adaptive sports, so being able to offer them some outlet to enjoy and play sports is something we are all extremely excited for and proud to be a part of.”

Like any other sporting activity for children, equipment is necessary and in this case that equipment is basketball wheelchairs for kids that are made specifically to play the sport. Dynamic Orthopedic greatly encourages anyone else inspired by what is being done for these kids to kindly donate to help raise the money for basketball wheelchairs for those kids whose families cannot afford them. Donations can be written to Memorial Adaptive Sports Fund, a nonprofit 501c3. Please write in the Memo: For Youth Basketball Team.
