The Philadelphia neighborhood of Port Richmond is plagued by illegal dumping, with one street in particular coming in for the worst of it. Locals complain that not all of the waste is construction-related; many neighbors have found drug paraphernalia and used needles in the piles of garbage. Complaints to the city have met with very little response, they complain.
Philadelphia police have not yet stepped up their patrols in the area, though they have taken multiple reports after each event. The city waste collection service, meanwhile, has responded with a statement that Coral Street is on their regular pickup schedule and the trash will be collected as part of regular weekly service to the area.
