Duke Study Finds Parkinson's Disease Deterioration Slowed By CoQ10 Intake

However, the Duke study does not mention that the form of CoQ10 significantly affects how well it’s absorbed, says expert.

In the Duke University Medical Center study, a 16-month randomized, placebo-controlled pilot trial in 80 subjects with mild Parkinson's disease found significant benefits for oral CoQ10 1,200 mg/day to slow functional deterioration.

The Duke study, along with others, points to the fact that low levels of Coenzyme Q10 are linked to accelerated brain deterioration. This point is well proven, and makes sense when the chemistry of the brain is examined. The human brain uses an incredible amount of cellular energy on a daily basis. At the same time, it is bombarded with free radicals that cause oxidative stress resulting in cell death.

“Oxidative stress, resulting in glutathione loss and oxidative DNA and protein damage, has been implicated in many neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease.”

CoQ10 is a key constituent of the cells’ energy production, and is now accepted for its role in supporting the brain’s peak performance and reversing cognitive decline. Since it is known that low levels of CoQ10 have been linked to accelerated brain deterioration, everyone deficient in this vital nutrient need to do something about it.

This includes: People over 30-years old due to the fact that the human body’s production of CoQ10 declines with age, and anyone taking Statins to lower cholesterol. Ubiquinol is the Active Form of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) that’s been shown to have the greatest benefit for people over 30

Research has shown that supplementation with Ubiquinol Coq10 not only promotes sharper thinking and enhances memory recall; it also increases motor skills and overall energy levels. Ubiquinol also has benefits for heart disease, high blood pressure, gum and oral health, kidney health, and even nervous system challenges.

“What most people are not aware of is that CoQ10 is not easily absorbed by the human body. Our research confirms that a water-soluble form of Ubiquinol is the most bioavailable, enabling the nutrient to reach much higher levels in the blood”, says a Nutrusta spokesperson.

This means that far fewer capsules of a Water-Soluble Ubiquinol CoQ10 produce significantly higher benefits than regular Ubiquinol capsules.
