Droneometry, the organization dedicated to helping kids learn about drone technology and potential careers in the drone industry, announced today that it is launching a kid’s coding video series about drones. The organization is seeking to raise $10,000 from corporate sponsors to underwrite the program. The videos will cover topics like drone software programming, drone safety and drone flying best practices.“Drones offer a wonderful mix of educational and fun activities for kids,” said a spokesperson for Droneometry. “You can get kids involved in coding, picking up useful skills while getting to have a blast with a technology that is emerging as a very big business, with a lot of career tracks opening up for young people.”
The program, slated to start on April 10, 2019, is scheduled to produced 10 educational videos with children ages 6-14. Topics include block coding with drone apps, the history of drones, playground activities for programmers and coding drone routes. Children will get exposure to drone safety information as well as activities like creating 3D model toys (simulation), coding of toy AG drones and controlling a drone with an Xbox controller.
Proceeds from the fundraising campaign will go 100% to defray the costs of supplies, activities and video production. Uses of funds include a Tello Educator Kit, Circuit Scribe Drones, FlyBrix Kits, DroneBlocks Courses, unbranded (non)Lego® brick drones, T-shirts, tickets to the Ruben H Fleet Museum, the Discover Science Museum and so forth.
Sponsors will receive logo placement on the droneometry.io, hyperlinks on project YouTube videos, inclusion in project blog posts, an expert SEO audit and other promotional considerations. The organization has funding proposals available as well as details on uses of funds and accounting transparency.
