Dr. Saeed Bajwa, renowned New York neurosurgeon, was recently presented with the ICNA Relief USA Award of Appreciation for his extensive involvement in committee and community services. In addition to his wholehearted approach to ease human suffering, Dr. Bajwa utilized his expertise in treating spinal injuries by assisting injured victims of the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, his homeland. Continually seeking to learn new techniques, update neurosurgical training, and improve spinal operating procedures, he has earned recent certification for Endoscopic Surgery of the Spine, certification in advanced training for the Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Operation of the Lumbar and Thoracic Spine, and the MAZOR Robotics, an innovative spine surgery technology that Dr. Bajwa obtained in 2015. His compassion for patients with medical issues inspires him to be involved in clinical research programs, such as the development of a surgical implant made from connectors with DePuy Synthes Spine, and artificial lumbar disk development. Dr. Bajwa serves on the board of dozens of community groups that are dedicated to providing patients with brain and spinal injury treatments.
After earning his medical degree at Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan, Dr. Saeed Bajwa completed residencies at Combined Military Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan, and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. A member of numerous professional medical organizations including the New York Medical Society and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Bajwa gives lectures to college students in New York as well as at Kin Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan. A recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award from SUNY Health Science Center from 1989 to 1993, he was also honored in 1976 with a Gold Medal for Standing First in Surgery at Nishtar Medical College of the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.
