Distorted Mix has just released its 5 song debut recording as of Jan 7, 2018. The songs can be heard on the official website here: https://www.distortedmix.com/ The album is also published on all of the music streaming services such as Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.
The sound and style of Distorted Mix’s music has been self described as the following:
“… a dark blend of slow roasted rock and EDM giving the finest sound aura of electronic dance distorted rock guitar vocal music [one has] ever heard.”
When asked about the sound of the music, the recording artist behind Distorted Mix, Joe Vecchio, responded with the following:
“Typical throughout Distorted Mix’s music is the electronic dance like drum beats, dirty synth bass sounds complimented with distorted grunge rock guitars and vocals sprinkled with trinkets of melodic distorted keys.”
The lyrics and vocals have an anthem like sound that serve more as sing-along-able melodic hooks rather than storytelling as found with other singer songwriters. The songwriting style is interesting in that the beat is uptempo yet the vocals and guitars are often laid back. The overall sound is dark.
Music production wise, the recording is glued together with warm analog tape saturation emulation which was utilized in the studio with Rupert Neve Designs 542. Distorted Mix embraces modern music recording technology, such as the software synths used for the bass, while striving to bring back the sound of the old vintage recording gear used before the evolution of the digital era that the music industry is in now. The 7 string Schecter Hellraiser guitar was recorded through the Mesa Boogie Rectifier preamp giving nice tube distortion tone and harmonics. The anthem like rock vocals were pre-amped through Great River Electronics MP-500NV which yield a warm and round saturated sound.
