Deep Web, Dark Web, the submerged parts of the Internet

The internet and its contents already appear to be of considerable size. However, we rarely take into account the shadow web, much more "voluminous"! This hidden side of the web includes the deep Internet and the dark Internet.

When we say "The Internets ", we mean that there are different types of access, for example depending on the country from which you are connecting. But we can also put “Internets " in the plural to evoke the different facets of a digital canvas that we know very little about: we can compare it to a cake made up of several floors, or even to an iceberg, part of which visible (emerged) is derisory compared to the total size of the ice giant. What are the different strata of the web?

What are the different parts or layers of the Internet?
The surface web
It is about the Internet as we, poor mortals, live it daily: consultation of emails, connection to social networks, purchases on e-commerce sites, frequentation of sites or blogs indexed by a search engine, etc. In short, the Internet! Well no: under the surface, you can access other Internet...

The deep web
Estimated at 95% of the total web, the deep web is also called "invisible web", "hidden web" or "deep web". The deep web is the Internet of all content that is not indexed by search engines (e.g. Google). You must therefore learn the precise address of the websites concerned to access into them. This non-indexing of websites may or may not be voluntary. Are notably concerned:

100% dynamic pages whose content changes according to certain parameters.
Sites or pages isolated from the rest of the web, without hyperlinks promoting them.
Sites protected by authentication.
Technically poorly designed sites.
Sites exclusively using technologies not understood by indexing robots.
Sites offering content that is incomprehensible to crawlers, such as PDF for example at one time.
We can consider that the private web (sites reserved for limited and identified users) and the opaque web (technically index able but not indexed web) are part of the deep web.

The dark web
Also called the Dark Web, the dark web is an (important) corner of the Internet, which is not easy to access: you not only need to know the specific addresses, but also to use specific computer tools (e.g. dedicated browser). Search engines are unfamiliar with this part of the web, and content loading can be very slow. Anonymity is the only rule, and each and every connection is indirect means, using many nodes (nodes).

As you will have understood, the dark web is not easy to access for the average Internet user. It is perhaps not worse: if it hosts the exchanges of defenders of freedom of expression or certain repressed political opponents, the dark web is also the site of much embezzlement:

Black e-markets: counterfeits, drugs, bank cards, weapons, etc.
Exchanging shocking or illegal content: child pornography, torture, cannibalism, violent sex, etc.
Illegal services: hiring a contract killer, transporting organs, renting botnets , buying malware, etc.
If these different layers of the web each have their own characteristics, there are many gateways that connect them: every day, bank card numbers obtained by phishing in the surface web are, for example, resold on dark web sites. So what is your favorite internet?
