Death Cab for Cutie has just announced an expansion of their current world concert tour by adding twelve new US concert dates.

Arroyo Grande, CA – April 14, 2015 – Death Cab for Cutie has taken the rock world by storm lately, and in response to the overwhelming enthusiasm for their already lengthy world tour, the band has just announced that it has added twelve more dates to the US leg of the tour. The new Death Cab for Cutie concert dates start on July 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and end on October 1 in Spokane, Washington. In addition to the new dates, the band has announced that these shows will feature special openers by Twin Shadow and Best Coast.

The band’s concert success is partially spurred on by the enormous success of Its latest album. Called “Kintsugi”, which refers to the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with precious metals, which ultimately makes the broken art more valuable than when it was whole, the album just scored its third number one hit on the latest Top Rock Albums chart. This is the band’s eighth studio album and the fourth release by a major studio. Kintsugi also ranked number eight on Billboards 200, which makes the fourth time Death Cab for Cutie has hit the top 10.

Just as the band is seeing so much success, founding member Chris Walla announced that he was leaving the band after Kintsugi was completed. And while Walla didn’t produce the album, he does appear on it in “The Ghosts of Beverly Drive”, a farewell song. This has caused major concern for some because Walla is considered to be instrumental in both the production of their albums and as a guitarist and songwriter. But Walla’s departure didn’t stop the band from moving on. Instead, they hired an outside producer and members Ben Gibbard (singer/guitarist), Nick Harmer (bassist) and Jason McGerr (drummer) will go on tour to support the band in the absence of Walla.

A spokesman for ConcertBank, an independent online concert ticket seller, says that for this concert, fans should get tickets in advance. For Instance, he says, “Tonight’s Death Cab for Cutie concert tickets are completely sold out, and I predict that shows will sell out quickly as the new concert dates approach.”

The band has seen much success and many challenges in just the past year, fans can’t help but wonder about their future. Fans are reminded to reserve tickets now, because when a band has this much going on in the middle of their tour, fans are likely to come out in droves to see them.
