The launch of the David Liddiard Group a 100% privately owned Indigenous company signals a massive leap for Indigenous businesses in Australia and is a fitting outcome for a man who has for three decades been actively committed to closing the education, health and well being and employment gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The partnerships that David has developed with diverse and robust commercial businesses and high profile industry partners nationally means that the David Liddiard Group has the capacity to deliver commercial contracts on mainstream projects across the energy, construction, civil, services and Aboriginal community engagement sectors.
David chose to have the launch is in the same week as the anniversary of the apology to the stolen generation.
Corporate Australia has demonstrated the desire to engage with Indigenous Australians, but has been reluctant to embrace Indigenous businesses in their contracted work and supply chain.
‘For true Indigenous economic independence and prosperity equal to that of other Australians, there must be a successful Indigenous economy, with vibrant and sustainable Indigenous businesses competing in the corporate sector.’ Mr Liddiard asserts.
“Economic independence is the key to closing the gap in education, health, well being and economic participation. Indigenous Australia can no longer depend on government alone to facilitate the changes required for the future generations of Indigenous people and I am calling on corporate Australia to share their commercial opportunities with Indigenous businesses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”
The launch of the David Liddiard Group will provide corporate Australia with opportunities to work in partnership with a commercial vehicle for social change assisting communities to secure a positive future for Indigenous young people and their communities.
