Failing to connect is the most tragic result of weak communication skills. The inability to
express empathy and emotion in public speaking or job interview can be devastating. Good
jobs are hard to find and improved communication skills are a great advantage for job seekers.
According to Mr. Norris, communicators can learn to connect better by employing a more effective use of personal stories. People relate to stories. People especially relate to stories that share a common emotion, even when the details or facts of the story are not familiar. But not all stories are created equal.
