Chimniak Court Reporting & Video in Chicago is setting precedents in the court reporting market by expanding its off-site reporting services to meet the demands of today’s environment. This move comes in conjunction with Illinois Governor Pritzker’s signing of Executive Order No. 12 on March 26, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, waiving the physical presence of a notary public and satisfying the “in presence” requirement of the Notarial Act.
“We are doing all we can to help our industry and our clients stay up to date with their regular calendar of procedures,” said Robin Chimniak, president of CCRV. “We have remotely covered depositions, meetings, and an emergency hearing in front of a Cook County Circuit Court judge in the last week, since social distancing was put in place and Cook County Circuit Court shuttered its doors to all but emergency civil matters. We began by issuing the oath under the provisions of Section 319 of the Public Health Service Act, but now, with Governor Pritzker’s help, we have a clear-cut ability to move forward in a more usual manner,” added Chimniak.
Ms. Chimniak pointed out that not only will this service provide needed assistance to the legal community, but it will also keep the court reporters who subcontract and in-office support staff in the reporting market working through this unusual time.
