The discipleship organization invites individuals to hear Dr. Randy Newman speak and participate in a conversation about evangelism.

The C.S. Lewis Institute and its partners regularly hold events across the country, and even internationally, to promote discipleship and provide education about C.S. Lewis, Christianity and the Scriptures. On March 10, at Tyler Street United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, the institute is offering a workshop session led by Dr. Randy Newman.

The session will take place from 9:00 am to noon Central Time on that Saturday and is titled Engaging Conversations: Helping Ordinary Christians Do the Extraordinary Work of Evangelism. The workshop will focus on interpersonal conversation as a tool for evangelism.

Newman says that this type of conversation is critical for evangelism. First, he says, conversations around the Gospel don’t have to be driven by content and persuasion; they should be driven by relationship and understand. That allows both people to experience the Gospels and the truth of them in new ways. One person may have that experience for the first time, but the other person may rediscover, make a new discovery or come away from the conversation with a new appreciation for the matter at hand.

Randy Newman is an experienced Christian leader, speaker and writer. He is the Senior Apologetic and Evangelism Fellow for the C.S. Lewis Institute. He’s also an adjunct professor with Patrick Henry College and the Talbot School of Theology. Newman served previously with Campus Crusade for Christ and Connection Points, and he has decades of on-hand ministry experience. His books include Corner Conversations, Bringing the Gospel Home, Engaging with Jewish People and Questioning Evangelism.

Individuals interested in the March 10 event in Dallas, Texas, can register online on the C.S. Lewis Institute’s web page.

Other events hosted by the C. S. Lewis Institute include a workshop on February 12 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown, Ohio. This workshop, titled Growing, Transforming & Multiplying Disciples of Jesus in the Local Church, is a pastoral day with Greg Odean. The Institute’s summer conference is another event of note and will be held at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, from June 17 through 20. The plenary speaker for that event is Dr. Jerry Root, and the theme is Communicating the Gospel C.S. Lewis Style. Participants will have the chance to take part in a variety of workshops and fellowship together during tea and meal times.
