Built By Krueger is a partner sponsor of the upcoming Louisville Turkey Trot, a 5K running event held on Thanksgiving morning. The event benefits the Sister Carmen Community Center, a local nonprofit that provides critical services to over 10,500 residents of East Boulder County each year.
This charity has special meaning for co-owner of By Krueger, Brian Krueger, as his involvement with Sister Carmen goes back to the early 1970’s. “We lived on East Simpson Street in Old Town Lafayette and Sister Carmen used to have a youth center on the same street. They provided a safe place where we could spend time, meet with friends, play pool and pinball. ” Brian reminisced.
Over the years, Brian and his family became more involved with Sister Carmen and supported them in a number of ways. Brian continued, “having a Lafayette, East Boulder County based community group made it easy for us to help with food drives, make donations and shop at the Sister Carmen thrift store to support them… Prior to the Turkey Trot, we also used to donate turkeys so people in need could have a Thanksgiving dinner.”
Brian and his family have incorporated the same spirit of giving into their business lives with the many charitable efforts of By Krueger. “We have a faith-based ethos that drives the way that we operate. It’s really great to be able to give back and serve the fundamental needs of people within our community… Sponsoring this race to benefit Sister Carmen fits perfectly in alignment with our values,” Brian explained.
The Louisville Turkey Trot will be held on November 22 with the race starting at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Louisville Public Library. Registration is free when you donate nonperishable food items or winter clothing to Sister Carmen Community Center.
