About Brewer’s Crackers
Brewer's Crackers is a "spent grain" cracker company driven to reducing food waste in the craft
Spent grains are a valuable by-product from the beer making process. When making beer,
brewers steep super high-quality grains, like barley, in water. They then strain this mixture,
keeping the liquid to make beer and discard the "spent" grains. Turns out, these grains are still
incredibly flavorful and the steeping process actually unlocks valuable nutrients.
We recycle these grains into our crackers and combine them with 100% whole wheat flour. Our
goal is to rise above other cracker companies by providing our customers with an honest,
healthy, sustainable, and delicious product.
Brewer’s Crackers is owned by Commack, NY natives and brothers Kyle and Matthew
Fiasconaro. Kyle founded the company by discovering the discarded spent grains while riding
his bike past Greenport Harbor Brewery on the North Fork of Long Island. Using his culinary
background from the French Culinary Institute and his time working in some of the nation’s top
restaurants such as Blue Hill Farm at Stone Creek, Kyle began playing with recipes until he
discovered what has become Brewer’s Crackers. Matthew has an M.B.A. from Dowling College
and handles the accounting and marketing side of the business. Owners Kyle and Matthew owe
their passion for sustainability and entrepreneurship to their parents, who owned a bagel store
while they were young, and their grandparents, who always had a vegetable garden and would
compost regularly with egg shells, food scraps and coffee grinds to keep the garden healthy.
