Brampton ON Clinical Research Essentials Workshop/ GCP Certification Launched

An updated Clinical Research Essentials workshop has been launched by the Canadian College of Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals, providing certifications for entry-level research assistants in Toronto, Brampton, Hamilton, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Windsor and Kingston.

The Canadian College of Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals (CCHAP) has launched an updated Clinical Research Essentials workshop for a range of students and healthcare professionals in the Brampton, Ontario area.

The recently updated program is well suited to those seeking entry level research assistant positions, including undergraduate students, international medical graduates, nurses, lab technicians, medical lab assistants and emergency medical technicians.

The Clinical Research Essentials workshop is now 14 hours in duration and is conducted on weekends at CCHAP’s Toronto campus. In-person and online options are available for attendees.

The course comprises 7 sessions, with each lasting 2 hours. The first session covers the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) in clinical and academic settings.

The second session covers research methods including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2).

Session 3 introduces students to research protocols, and sessions 4 and 5 cover applications to the Research Ethics Board (REB) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) as well as completing informed consent forms (ICF).

The sixth session introduces students to the Canadian Common CV (CCV) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) Bio-sketch, the standardized methods of listing academic history and accomplishments in Canada and the US, respectively. The final session covers literature review.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a course completion certificate as well as certifications in GCP and TCPS2. High performing students will also receive a letter of recommendation.

The recently enhanced Clinical Research Essentials workshops are taught by certified instructors who are working and/or conducting research in leading institutes.
