Language Lizard has launched a bilingual book giveaway to support and enhance reading while students are at home and engaged in distance learning. Parents can sign up for the giveaway to expand their children’s home library, and books will be provided in over 50 languages. Entrants will have opportunities throughout the year to win packages of bilingual books in many different languages, and extra winners will be selected during the Covid-19 crisis.
While these are challenging times for students, parents, and teachers alike, Language Lizard believes that reading good books is a healthy way for children to manage stress, explore, and unwind. “Even though we are staying at home, stories allow us to easily escape to distant cities, worlds and planets, real and imagined,” says Anneke Forzani, President of Language Lizard.
Language Lizard continues to advocate for global literacy as a Pledge 1% member supporting the nonprofit Room to Read. Language Lizard specifically supports Room to Read’s Book Publishing Program, which conducts writer and illustrator workshops in communities to teach the best practices in children’s storytelling and publish children’s books in native languages.
