Better Health Osteopathy a clinic which specialises in treating musculoskeletal conditions, has recently opened in Merivale, Christchurch. Lorraine Herity, Clinic Director moved to Christchurch over two years ago, having previously worked in osteopathic clinics in London and Ireland, and is delighted to now open Better Health Osteopathy in Christchurch.
“Osteopaths treat much more than back pain” explains Lorraine. “On a regular day, I typically treat patients with a wide variety of ailments; back pain, neck pain, headaches, dizziness, sports injuries, breathing difficulties and much more”. Osteopathy is hands-on treatment where the Osteopath focuses on restoring movement in the body and easing aches and pains.
“We see many people where pain is having a massive impact on their everyday activities, be it the pregnant women who is struggling to walk with back pain, the painter who is in constant pain at work, or children with aches and pains”. In the clinic, Lorraine’s aim is to deliver an accurate diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and self-care advice for patients at home. Better Health Osteopathy always aims to treat the root cause of pain, not just the symptoms, in order to return the clinics patients back to everyday health, in as quick a time as possible.
During treatment Lorraine will utilise a variety of gentle and safe osteopathic treatment techniques, which could include mobilisation and manipulation to joints and soft tissues, massage, and muscle stretches. Treatment techniques are tailored to the individual and are suitable for people of all ages from children to the elderly.
“I feel very honoured to have worked with such a variety of patients in Christchurch over the last two years. I have seen many patients work so hard to recover from their pain and injuries, and there is something genuinely unique about kiwi determination, which I have never quite seen in other countries” explains Lorraine.

Lorraine worked as an osteopath in Christchurch over the last two years, and in osteopathic clinics in London and Ireland, before moving to New Zealand.
