Best Travel Team In California, ABD Baseball Tops The List With 20 MLB Players

The ABD Academy baseball program has produced an amazing twenty (20) Major League (MLB) Baseball players, ranking it the Best Travel Baseball Team In California.


The ABD Academy baseball program based out of Norco, California has produced an amazing twenty (20) current and former MLB players. The player list includes Gold Glove Winners, All-Stars and World Series Champions. The group of players listed below all share one thing in common, they all played for Coach Mike Spiers and or Randy Curtis of the ABD Baseball Academy. This is quite an astonishing feat for any college program, let alone a travel baseball academy.

Player List.


1. Brooks Pounders, a riverside native, played for the ABD Academy in High School. Brooks was just recently called up to the big leagues making his MLB debut on July 5, 2016. Brooks is currently a relief pitcher with the Kansas City Royals.


2. Nolan Arenado, an All-Star 3B has won a remarkable three (3) Gold Glove Awards in his first three seasons with the Rockies. Nolan played for ABD while attending El Toro high school. Nolan is currently rated in the Top 10 MLB players in 2016.


3. Christian Yelich, OF with the Marlins. Christian was a 1st round draft pick in 2010 with the Florida Marlins. Christian attended Westlake High School while playing for the ABD Bulldogs.


4. Anthony Rizzo, All-Star 1B with the Cubs. Anthony a Florida native and played in select tournaments with the ABD Bulldogs during high school. Anthony is one of the most liked players in Baseball and is a cancer survivor.


5. Tyler Chatwood, a current Right Handed Pitcher with the Colorado Rockies. Tyler was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels. Tyler has undergone two (2) Tommy John surgeries and is currently having his greatest year of success on the mound in 2016. Tyler attended Yucaipa High School while playing for the ABD Bulldogs.


6. Steven Wright, current Right Handed Pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. Steven was an All-Star selection in 2016 and is having his best year ever in 2016. Wright is famous for his knuckleball pitch. Steven attended Valley View HS in Moreno Valley, Ca while playing for the ABD program.


7. Kolten Wong, He made his MLB debut in 2013. Kolten starred in baseball at Kamehameha Hawaii HS and for the U. of Hawaii at Manoa. The Cardinals selected Wong in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft, and promoted him to the major leagues two years later.


8. Allen Craig has played for the Cardinals and Red Sox. The Cardinals drafted him from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2006, and he made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in 2010. Allen Craig has appeared in two World Series. Allen is currently playing AAA in the Red Sox.


9. Bobby Keilty, former Outfielder with the Twins, A’s and Red Sox where he won a World Series Championship.


10. Greg Dobbs, a former MLB player. Greg played for the Mariners, Phillies, Marlins and Nationals. Dobbs was primarily a third baseman, but could also field the corner outfield positions and first base. He won a World Series with the Phillies. Greg played HS ball cat Canyon Springs in Moreno Valley while with the ABD Bulldogs.


11. Reed Johnson, He has played for the Blue Jays, Cubs, Dodgers, Braves, Marlins, and Nationals. Reed attended Temecula Valley HS while playing for the ABD Bulldogs and was a wlk on at Cal State Fullerton.


12. Josh Satin played first base, second base, and third base. During his career, he played for the New York Mets as well as for the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres organizations. Josh Attended Harvard Westlake HS while playing for the ABD Bulldogs.


13. Xavier Paul, an Outfielder with the Dodgers, Pirates, Reds and Diamondbacks. Xavier grew up in Louisiana and commuted to Southern California often while in High School to play with the ABD Bulldogs. Xavier was the best all around athlete to come out of the ABD program.


14. Chris Parmelee, played at Chino Hills HS in Southern California while playing with the ABD Baseball academy in the off season. Chris was a 1st round draft pick selection by the twins. Chris has played with the Twins, Orioles and currently with the Yankees.


15. Aaron Sanchez, starting right handed pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Aaron played HS baseball in Barstow while playing for the ABD Academy.


16. Tommy Hanson, a former RHP for the Atlanta Braves and Anaheim Angels played for the ABD Academy for 8 years. Tommy attended Redlands East Valley HS and Riverside Community College prior to being drafted. Tommy passed away on November 9th, 2015 to a drug overdose.


17. Jordan Pacheco, a catcher who currently plays in the Braves organization. He has played in MLB for the Colorado Rockies the Diamondbacks and the Reds. Jordan attended La Cueva HS while playing for the ABD Bulldogs.


18. Josh Vitters was an AFLAC All-American Prep Third Baseman for Cypress High School in Cypress, California. He was also named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for California in 2007 Vitters committed to attend ASU on a scholarship. Josh Played in the MLB with the Cubs.


19. Matt Clark currently plays for the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He has played for the Brewers. Prior to beginning his professional career, he played college baseball at UC Santa Barbara, RCC and LSU. Clark has also competed for the United States national baseball team.


20. Matt Davidson attended Yucaipa HS while playing for the ABD Bulldogs. He committed to attend (USC) on a scholarship. After graduating from high school, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Davidson in the first round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. Davidson signed with the Diamondbacks. Matt is currently with the Chicago White Sox.


The ABD Baseball Academy is located in Norco, Ca. and currently ran by Randy Curtis, a former 40 Man MLB outfielder with the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians.
